ECOLOGY
Nightfox night vision goggles are commonly used for the observation of animals in complete darkness.
SHOW RANGEWhat is digital night vision?
Night vision is the ability to see in low-light conditions. Humans have poor night vision naturally, so we have to rely on night vision devices to help. Analog night vision devices amplify any existing light and send it to your eyes, whereas digital night vision captures infrared (IR) light and displays the results on a screen. All Nightfox night vision devices are digital because we believe digital night vision devices are more robust and give flexibility including options such as recording photos and video.
How digital night vision is different
Digital night vision works by detecting IR radiation, usually reflected from a torch or built-in IR LED. Infrared light is focused and projected onto a sensitive CMOS sensor, similar to those used in digital cameras. The sensor converts the infrared light into an electrical signal, which is transferred to a screen the user can view through an eyepiece. Infrared appears as white or violet on the screen.
Traditional night vision devices amplify existing light and send it to your eyes. The available light enters the night vision device through an objective lens and hits an image intensifier tube. The image intensifier works by accelerating electrons across a vacuum and onto a phosphor screen, where they appear as green. The eyepiece then magnifies the image for you to see it clearly.
