We've released a new firmware update for the Nightfox Nova, and it resolves a recording glitch that some of you have been in touch about. If you've noticed a green patch in the corner of your footage or heard a brief clicking sound in your recordings, this update is for you.
What was happening
A small number of Nova users reported the same two symptoms: a green patch appearing in the corner of the picture, and a short click in the audio of affected recordings.
After digging into it, we found the cause. The very first moment of a Nova video file was occasionally being saved incorrectly, and that had a knock-on effect on recordings made afterwards. It was a subtle issue, but once we understood what was happening, the fix was clear.
What the update does
Firmware 20260605-1 resolves the issue at its source. Every new recording now starts cleanly from the very first frame, so the green patch and clicking sound are gone for good.
While we were at it, we also fixed a smaller glitch where unplugging an HDMI field monitor would stop a recording in progress. Now your recording keeps rolling, whatever your monitor is doing.
How to update your Nova
Updating takes just a few minutes. Simply follow our step-by-step instructions and you'll be running the latest firmware in no time.
Thank you
This fix happened because of you. The reports and feedback we received were invaluable in tracking the issue down and getting it sorted quickly, so a genuine thank you to everyone who got in touch.
We're committed to making the Nova better with every update, and that's a lot easier when you tell us what you're seeing out in the field. If there's something you'd like us to improve, or you spot anything that doesn't seem right, we'd love to hear from you.
